This is how I made my 2012 Book of Days cover…

I’m just going to say it – I’m so glad the holidays are over! Don’t get me wrong, we had a nice, quiet Christmas and we all got spoiled, but, I’m so glad that it’s time to get on with things. 2012 is just around the corner and it holds so much for me that I just want to be there. Now.

I spent most of 2011 blogging, writing, studying and connecting. I feel like I’m finally part of a community, a few actually, but they are all connected. Becoming a Creativity Coach has opened doors for me like I could’ve never imagined. And finally giving in to my insatiable urge to create has opened a few more-I’ve committed to Life Book 2012, Effy Wild’s Book of Days and I’ve signed on to do a few drawing e-courses – one is ‘Draw Happy’ by Jane Davenport and another by Traci Bautista (a freebie) about Doodling. I feel like I’m literally on fire with excitement! My studio is bursting with supplies waiting to become a part of something awesome!

I finally took the time to make the cover for my Book of Days. I chose the word SOAR for 2012 because that’s what I plan to do. In all areas. Sky’s the limit.

Gratuitous shop plug alert – I am taking orders for 2012 words stamped on metal – shipping next day – here’s the link – 2012 Word Pendant. I just sent Fearless off to Montreal…cool.

I drew this picture back on the 22nd. I fell in love with her instantly and knew she was meant to be somewhere other than in my sketch book.

I scanned her into Photoshop and cleaned up the eraser marks-very cool, by the way. I’ve only ever used PS for my photography so this was new territory for me. Needless to say, it was frickin’ amazing to tidy her up and end up with a printable copy!

I printed her out 5 x 8″ on some textured paper that I’d bought years ago and then stamped and added some bits of paper. Please note-I’m new to mixed media and have a lot to learn-but what fun! I glued it to the front of a sketch book that is now officially dedicated to 2012.

Have you chose your word yet? I’d love to hear it! Feel free to leave it in the comment box and share it with us all.

Soar is a magnificent word for 2012 and I’m sure you will! You already know mine. Have you made a necklace for yourself??

Please comment with your real name using good manners.
